American Black Film Festival Returns to Atlanta

Rows of red upholstered seats inside a dimly lit movie theater.

Atlanta’s film community takes the spotlight as the American Black Film Festival brings its Pop Up Tour to AMC Madison Yards on October 24–25, 2026.

The two-day event connects audiences with independent films, emerging voices and the creative talent shaping entertainment. Programming includes a screenwriting masterclass presented by the New York Film Academy, an HBO short-film showcase and conversations offering a closer look at the filmmaking process.

Among the featured films is Funny Feelings, a romantic comedy starring Vena “Pretty Vee” Excell and Tristan “Mack” Wilds, with Terri J. Vaughn. The lineup also includes Otra, a musical starring Rome Flynn, María Gabriela de Faría and Dania Ramirez, followed by a conversation with director Armani Ortiz.

Presented nationally by Ally Financial, the tour brings ABFF’s celebration of Black storytelling directly to creative communities across the country.

For Atlanta movie lovers and aspiring filmmakers, it’s an opportunity to discover fresh work and hear from the people behind the screen.
